Stanwell Energy Park is a 3,800 hectare precinct of world-class design surrounding the 1,434 megawatt Stanwell Power Station.
The park provides direct access to globally competitive electricity supplies and offers 600 hectares of project sites, with first-rate infrastructure and services for large industry, in a carefully planned and professionally engineered facility.
In mid-2007, Stanwell and Rockhampton Regional Development Limited joined forces to investigate potential future development opportunities in the energy park.
The study has highlighted a number of potential opportunities. Following this initial study, further investigations into air shed, fauna and flora, water quality, cultural heritage, noise and flood impact and a range of engineering studies are underway so that the suitability, practicality and economic benefit of developing the area for light to medium industry is clearly understood.
The outcomes of these sudies will aim to establish a base level of information to enable future developers to quickly evaluate the development opportunities within the precinct.
Rockhampton and the Central Queensland region is one of Australia’s most pro-development regions, with a strong economy and skilled workforce built on mining, industry, agriculture and tourism. Rockhampton is the transport gateway to north, south and central western Queensland and is linked to the major eastern port cities, with access to road, rail and airport infrastructure.
