We support a range of scholarships, bursaries and engineering-related education initiatives to promote the uptake of engineering as a career choice.
Power Generation Skills Development Program
This program is a joint initiative of the three Queensland Government owned generators—Stanwell, CS Energy and Tarong Energy—and three Queensland universities—The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Central Queensland University. The program offers professional engineers and paraprofessionals the opportunity to accelerate their technical competency. We encourage our employees to enrol in the program by providing financial and general support associated with course fees, text books, accommodation and flexible work schedules.
Power Engineering Alliance Bursary
This bursary has been established for students undertaking studies at certain Queensland universities in areas of engineering relevant to the power industry. The aim of this bursary is to encourage school leavers from across Queensland to undertake tertiary education in engineering, with a specialisation in areas of interest and relevance to the energy sector.
The Elizabeth Nosworthy Power Industry Bursary
This University of Queensland bursary encourages economics students to pursue a career within the power industry. Two scholarships ($7,500 each) per year are available to undergraduate students of Economics at The University of Queensland who, on completion of their second year of study, have achieved a GPA of 6 or higher. As part of their submission, applicants are required to address why they are interested in a career in the power industry.
The bursary is named in honour of Elizabeth Nosworthy, a former Chairman of Stanwell and a strong advocate for initiatives aimed at fostering the development of high quality graduates mainly in the fields of business, economics and engineering.
