The Barron Gorge Visitors Centre is located at Barron Gorge Hydro in the picturesque Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
Our team of expert centre staff are on hand to provide up-to-date information and in-depth local knowledge to help you make the most of your visit.
Student group tours of Barron Gorge Hydro are also conducted. Bookings must be made through the centre.
Along with our friendly professional staff, the centre offers:
- an extensive selection of fact sheets about Stanwell's operating sites
- activity sheets catering to a range of age groups from primary to secondary school
- a variety of complimentary postcards
- display boards detailing the history of Barron Gorge Hydro and the operation of the station and other Stanwell sites
- a collection of local insects and wildlife
- a to-scale model of the hydro-electric process at Barron Gorge Hydro
