Tarong Power Station

Tarong Power Station, 180 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, is one of Queensland's largest power stations. With a total generating capacity of 1400 MW, it plays a key role in enabling Stanwell to supply low cost, reliable electricity.

The first of Tarong Power Station's four generating units became operational in May 1984 and the station was completed in 1986. The project employed more than 2000 people and cost more than $1.2 billion.

Tarong Power Station can supply electricity to the equivalent of eight cities the size of Toowoomba.
