FUTURE ENERGY INNOVATION & TRAINING HUB (FEITH)
Overview
This state-of-the-art precinct is part of Stanwell’s overall approach to delivering clean energy and is located at the Stanwell Power Station in central Queensland. The Future Energy and Training Hub (FEITH) will provide a pilot and testing facility for new energy technologies as well as a renewable energies education and training facility. The project is also part of the transition of the Stanwell Power Station into a Clean Energy Hub by 2035.
Technical details
The project (the size of a shopping centre) will be built in four phases. When complete – the precinct will include:
A state-of-the-art workforce skills and technical training Academy.
An installation to demonstrate to the community a range of energy technologies and hydrogen applications.
A world-class commercial-scale research and testing precinct for medium to long-duration battery storage, transmission, and renewable energy integration technologies.
A servicing and maintenance workshop for clean energy.
Project timeline
This project has multiple components which are happening concurrently on site:
Overarching infrastructure, services and Hysata’s hydrogen test site
Dec 2024: Contractor appointed
Sep 2025: Civil works to commence - expected to take six to seven months
Mar 2026: Commissioning and testing of common infrastructure services and Hysata’s hydrogen electrolyser
Solar installation
Oct 2024: Contractor appointed
Mar 2025: Civil works to commence - expected to take six to seven months
Oct 2025: Commissioning
Iron Flow Battery (IFB) testing site
June 2024: Contractor appointed
Nov 2024: Civil works to commence - expected to take five to six months
Mid 2025: Commissioning and testing of IFB project
Training and Interpretive Centre
Oct 2024: Conceptual design for the Training and Interpretive Centre to be completed
Feb 2025: Detailed designs for the Training and Interpretive Centre by architect to start and completed in six to seven months with consultation
End 2025: Contractor appointed for construction of Centre
