Thousands of tiny new residents have just splashed into No. 7 Dam, helping secure the future of one of Mount Morgan's favourite outdoor destinations.

Mount Morgan Promotion and Development Inc. (MMPAD) recently released 8,000 golden perch fingerlings into the dam as part of its long-running restocking program, helping ensure future generations can continue to enjoy fishing, outdoor recreation and time spent with family and friends.

MMPAD has been coordinating fingerling releases at No. 7 Dam since 2008, recognising the vital role the dam plays in both the environmental health and lifestyle of the Mount Morgan community.

After several years where releases were unable to go ahead due to low water levels and limited fish stock availability, MMPAD was pleased to see the program's return.

MMPAD President John Steinberger said the project is an investment in Mount Morgan's future.

"It's about more than releasing fish into a dam. It's about creating a destination that locals can enjoy, and visitors want to experience, while supporting local businesses and showcasing everything Mount Morgan has to offer," he said.

The fingerlings will help support a healthier aquatic environment while creating future opportunities for recreational fishing and outdoor activities.

In addition to the environmental benefits, MMPAD used the release as an opportunity to bring the community together through a family-friendly event, helping foster social connection and awareness of the dam's value to Mount Morgan.

Mr Steinberger said support from organisations such as Stanwell plays a key role in helping community groups turn ideas into action.

"Support from Stanwell has helped us continue investing in one of Mount Morgan's important community assets, ensuring No. 7 Dam can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for years to come."

As the fingerlings settle into their new home, MMPAD is casting an eye to the future - helping ensure No. 7 Dam remains a popular destination for visitors and locals alike.
