Stanwell supports Rockhampton’s first Empower Conference

Creating safer communities starts with stronger conversations, and last week the Rockhampton community took an important step forward.
Stanwell was proud to sponsor Rockhampton’s first-ever domestic and family violence (DFV) conference, the Empower Conference, created by Louise Hayes from CQ Healthy Families.
The two-day event brought together speakers, advocates and organisations from across the country to share insights, lived experiences and practical strategies to address the impacts of domestic and family violence across communities and workplaces.
Stanwell’s Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Emily Raguse, said supporting initiatives like the Empower Conference reflects Stanwell’s commitment to being an active member of the communities where we operate.
“Domestic and family violence has far-reaching impacts across families, workplaces and the broader community.
"Supporting initiatives like the Empower Conference is one way we can contribute to meaningful conversations, raise awareness and help strengthen community responses to this very present issue,” Emily said.
The conference highlighted the important role workplaces can play in creating safe, supportive environments for employees impacted by DFV, while also sharing practical education tools, support services and pathways for help.
Stanwell Health & Wellbeing Manager, Kirsten Williams, said attending events like the Empower Conference helps ensure Stanwell continues to strengthen the support available to employees and their families.
“This was a valuable opportunity to gain greater insight into the range of support services and resources available within our community,” Kirsten said.
“By continuing to build our awareness, we can better identify opportunities to strengthen our approach and ensure our people are supported and guided to seek assistance when needed.”
Through initiatives like the Empower Conference, Stanwell continues to demonstrate our commitment to supporting not only the wellbeing of its people, but contributing to stronger, safer communities.
Thank you to People and Culture Advisor, Lorenzo Puccini, Health and Safety Advisor, Jade Smith Stakeholder Engagement Advisor, Paige Thwaite, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, Emily Raguse and Health and Wellbeing Manager, Kirsten Williams for attending the conference on behalf of Stanwell.
