Six community groups including a kindy, sporting clubs, a farmers hall and pantry will share in almost $140,000 in grants from the latest funding round, helping them to kick start projects that improve the livability of the communities they support.

The Tarong Community Partnership Fund is an important part of our commitment to the communities in which we operate, and we’re proud to be supporting the groups that make our regions a better place to live, work and play. The successful projects include:

  • Tingoora Sports Association will install a new storage shed at the grounds, supporting the community with another space to connect.

  • South Burnett Rugby League Club will install digital meeting technologies in their Kingaroy-based multi-purpose meeting room offering the club committee increased opportunities to participate in online training and meetings as well as an additional resource for community organisations or individuals to hire.

  • The South Burnett Pantry will install a solar system with battery storage to reduce electricity costs.

  • Yarraman Kindergarten will create an Indigenous community mural on the front of the building, facilitated by a local Indigenous artist.

  • Wooroolin Warriors Cricket Club will rebuild four turf wickets and level a fifth to meet Cricket Australia design standards and replace the current wicket which has been in use since 1988.

  • Ironpot Farmers Hall will construct an accessible ramp at the Ironpot Hall to provide safe and inclusive access for all community members. This project is being delivered in partnership with Wambo Wind Farm’s Community Benefit Fund.

Stanwell General Manager Southern Generation Mick Joy says the Tarong Community Partnership Fund is about adding value to our regions that our operations, projects and infrastructure touches, helping them build the long-term sustainability of their community organisations.

“In the 2024-2025 financial year alone, Tarong power stations and Meandu Mine invested almost $400,000 across 73 incredible community groups, helping to bring their projects and events to life across the South Burnett, Cherbourg and Toowoomba regions,” Mr Joy said.

“The projects we support are as diverse as the groups that apply for funding. Many of these organisations rely entirely on the dedication and hard work of volunteers, and we’re proud to play a role in supporting them in any way that we can.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing the difference these projects will make.”

Wooroolin Warriors Cricket Club member, Luke Smith says with support from the Tarong Community Partnership Fund, replacing the wicket square won’t just help the club, it will benefit the whole community.

“It will give the club a safe, reliable surface not just for cricket, but for a range of sports, supporting everyone from juniors to seniors and all abilities programs,” Mr Smith said.

"It will also ease the workload for our volunteers, who currently spend a lot of time repairing the existing wicket between games.

“The upgrades to our home oval will strengthen the club’s role as a key community sporting hub and help build on the strong sense of community we’ve already created.”

The Tarong Community Partnership Fund opens twice a year and provides dedicated financial support to projects that are impactful, inclusive, community aligned and future focussed.

The next round of applications will be opening on Monday, 5 January 2026. Please visit Stanwell | Our work with communities for more information.
