TARONG BATTERY

ICON BATTERY REVERSED

Energy type Battery

Overview

The Tarong Battery provides essential firming capacity to support renewable energy projects planned for Southern Queensland. With a capacity of 300 MW and two hours of storage, it is the first battery system in Stanwell’s portfolio. The system is designed to charge when energy generation is high and discharge when demand is high or generation is low, helping to maintain system reliability and grid stability. It can charge and discharge multiple times per day, and respond within fractions of a second to changes in demand. The battery is located onsite at the Tarong power station and was delivered in two stages. A total of $514 million is being invested in this project.
