Stanwell Power Station is charging ahead with more support for local community groups including schools, sporting groups and progress associations announcing the latest round of the Stanwell Community Partnership Fund.

The Stanwell Community Partnership Fund is focused on improving the livability and sustainability of the Rockhampton region and is an important way for Stanwell to support the hard-working local community groups and volunteers.  In the latest round, seven local community groups will benefit from funding to support their projects:

  • Baree School of Arts – infrastructure upgrades to the lighting system and installation of fans to improve visibility and ventilation within the heritage-listed building, enabling year-round use of the facility for community events.

  • Kalapa Hall and Sports Committee – purchasing a new PA system and lighting upgrade to improve the safety, functionality and usability of Kalapa Hall, reinforcing its role as a rural hub for community gatherings, emergency coordination and inclusive access.

  • Stanwell Progress Association – purchasing of Starlink and installation of security cameras, providing critical connectivity during emergencies and supporting hall hire and local event use.

  • Westwood Progress Association – infrastructure upgrade to improve the wheelchair ramp access, enabling full participation in hall events for elderly and disabled residents.

  • Wycarbah Hall and Sports Association – installation of hot water and a solar system, to improve energy efficiency, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

  • Stanwell State School P&C – supporting the “150 Years of Growth: Landscaping and Commemoration of Stanwell State School project,” fostering pride, engagement and inclusive outdoor learning.

  • Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club – restoring and enhancing key recreational infrastructure of the Whipsnake and Cactus trails to improve trail safety and support regional economic diversification.

Stanwell General Manager Central Generation, Angie Zahra, says Stanwell Power Station has proudly been part of the community for more than 30 years, and in that time, the partnership fund has been very important to us.

“We’re here for the long-term, and so we’re excited to be adding value to the region and fostering the long-term sustainability of many worthwhile community organisations through our partnership fund,” Mrs Zahra said.

“In 2024/25 financial year alone, Stanwell Power Station invested almost $180,000 across 37 incredible community groups, helping to bring their projects and events to life across the Central Queensland region.

“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to apply for funding. It’s pleasing to see so many incredible community organisations bringing inspiring events and projects to life.

Secretary of the Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club Sam Lynam said without the support of the Stanwell Community Partnership Fund, larger scale improvements to the club wouldn’t be possible.

“Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club runs entirely on volunteer efforts and community generosity, so funding like this truly makes all the difference,” Ms Lynam said.

“The project will create an important entry point into mountain biking, especially for beginners, young kids and women wanting to join social groups.  “Beyond that, the funding will help us to sustain and grow a regional recreational asset that benefits locals and visitors alike.

“It strengthens Rockhampton’s position as a mountain biking destination and supports active, outdoor lifestyles for people of all ages and backgrounds.”

The next round of the Stanwell Community Partnership Fund will open to applications early next year.
