WAMBO WIND FARM

ICON WIND REVERSED

Overview

Wambo Wind Farm is a 50:50 joint venture between Stanwell and Cubico Sustainable Investments, currently under construction near Jandowae in the Western Downs region of Southern Queensland. Delivered in two stages, the project forms part of Stanwell’s broader commitment to building a geographically and technologically diverse energy portfolio that supports Queensland’s future energy needs.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Wambo Wind Farm is being developed – the Western Wakka Wakka and Barunggam Peoples – and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

Technical details

The project includes 83 Vestas wind turbines – 42 in stage one and 41 in stage two – each standing 247 metres tall from base to tip.

Spanning approximately 12,500 hectares of mostly cleared grazing land, the site has been selected to balance energy generation potential with minimal land-use disruption.
