Engineering the future: Stanwell launches new program to recruit emerging engineers

Stanwell is powering up the futures of early-career engineers with the launch of its new Engineering Early Careers Acceleration Program.
As part of the program, six diverse engineering roles will be available at Stanwell’s three sites: Brisbane, Tarong power stations in the South Burnett, and Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton.
The program is open to recent graduates and engineers with up to five years of post-grad experience, offering experience in real-world energy operations, mentorship from industry leaders, and tailored development pathways. The successful applicants will be given hands-on experience, professional development, and a genuine work-life balance.
Stanwell General Manager Southern Generation, Mick Joy said Stanwell’s new program is a game-changer for engineers looking to build their careers in regional Queensland.
“This program is a chance to work on real projects, with real impact, in one of the most critical industries,” Mr Joy said.
“At Tarong power stations, our engineers are immersed in complex systems and real operational challenges from day one.
“It’s a place where you can grow professionally while enjoying the lifestyle and community of the South Burnett.”
Stanwell General Manager Central Generation, Angie Zahra said this program gives early-career engineers the chance to step straight into meaningful work.
“Our new program isn’t just about learning, it’s about contributing, being mentored, and building a career with purpose,” Ms Zahra said.
“Our engineers at Stanwell Power Station work on some of the most critical infrastructure in Queensland’s energy network, all while living in a vibrant community that’s welcoming and has easy access to the coast and national parks.”
The available roles span mechanical, electrical, process, and computer science engineering disciplines, with flexible start dates and relocation support available.
Stanwell’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing is embedded throughout the program. Each role offers flexible work options including four-day weeks at both regional sites and work-from-home arrangements for Brisbane, as well as professional development, and comprehensive health, safety and wellbeing support.
Applications are now open and close 3 August 2025. For more information or to apply, visit: https://www.stanwell.com/careers-at-stanwell
