Community groups across the South Burnett, Cherbourg, Toowoomba and surrounding regions can now apply for funding to help bring local projects to life through the latest round of the Tarong Community Partnership Fund.

The fund supports local, community-led projects that are inclusive, practical and focused on delivering lasting benefits for communities connected to Stanwell’s operations and projects.

Thisfunding round follows support for four community groups earlier this year, with successful projects including medical equipment for the Kingaroy Hospital, a back-up power generator for Blackbutt RSL Sub-Branch, and upgrades to sporting facilities in Wooroolin and Kingaroy.

Stanwell General Manager, Southern Generation Mick Joy said the fund was an important way for the Tarong power stations and Meandu Mine to support local projects that make a real difference across the region.

“We know local community organisations understand their communities best and often have some fantastic projects that can make a lasting difference to their towns and regions,” Mr Joy said.

“The Tarong Community Partnership Fund gives us an opportunity to support those projects and help local groups deliver projects that benefit the people who live, work and connect across these regions.”

Mr Joy said that in 2025–26, the fund contributed $250,000 to support 10 community groups, projects and initiatives across the South Burnett, Cherbourg and Toowoomba regions.

“We’re now encouraging eligible community organisations to put forward practical, community-led projects that respond to local needs and create lasting benefits the South Burnett, Cherbourg, Toowoomba and surrounding areas,” he said.

“Our local stakeholder engagement team can help groups understand the fund, talk through project ideas and support them through the application process, so we encourage community groups with a great project to get in touch before applying.”

Applications for the Tarong Community Partnership Fund are open until 25 October 2026.
