Stanwell powers our biggest industries, supporting jobs for Queenslanders

Stanwell employs 700 direct employees, 400 indirect employees (Meandu Mine), and a number of contractors who provide support for site services and unit outages.

Our people work hard every day to generate electricity to keep the lights on in Queensland and power jobs and industry.

Stanwell has contributed strongly to Queensland’s economic growth over decades through job creation and investment and powering industry.

An Economic Impact Report, by Lawrence Consulting in 2014/15, concluded that Stanwell’s operations contributed $183.3 million in direct and flow-on economic activity to  the South Burnett region, near its Tarong power stations.

While Capricorn Enterprise acknowledges that Stanwell’s operations at Stanwell Power Station, through mining and electricity services, are a key economic sector for the region’s local workforce.
