2020 APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINEESHIP PROGRAM AT TARONG POWER STATION

24 July 2019

Stanwell will open applications for its 2020 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program from 22 July 2019 and is hosting an information session for anyone interested in applying.

Tarong Power Station Site Manager, Brad Perry, said Tarong power stations would take on four new apprentices and four new trainees in 2020, including a dedicated Indigenous traineeship.

“Stanwell’s Apprentice and Trainee Program is a fantastic opportunity for school leavers and mature aged candidates to gain a trade qualification and build a fulfilling career in the energy and mining industries,” Mr Perry said.

“At Stanwell, we have a proud history of supporting skills development across the region and creating entry-level employment opportunities in the energy and mining industries.

“At Stanwell, we employ a wide range of professionals in areas like engineering, safety, environment, finance, IT, geology and human resources, in addition to more traditional trade-based roles and coal mine workers.

“We appreciate the opportunity to share what we do and find our apprentices and trainees finish the program with a much stronger understanding of the variety of career paths that are available in the industry.”

Stanwell is hosting an information session about its 2020 Apprentice and Trainee Program on Monday, 29 July 2019.

The information session will provide potential applicants useful information about the roles available and the application process.

Attendees will gain insight into what it’s like to complete an apprenticeship or traineeship with Stanwell, and receive guidance on how to prepare applications. There will be opportunities to talk to the group training organisation, MRAEL, Stanwell human resources staff and site representatives, some of which previous completed an apprenticeship or traineeship with Stanwell.

Parents, students, teachers and other local applicants are encouraged to attend the session, being held at Kingaroy State High School.

Applications from indigenous, mature-aged and female applicants are encouraged across all disciplines offered.

The information session is being held at Kingaroy State High School Assembly Hall from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, 29 July 2019.
