Stanwell will open applications for its Tarong power stations 2022 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program from Monday 21 June 2021 to Sunday 11 July 2021, with roles available for a business trainee, a laboratory techniques trainee, two electrical instrumentation apprentices, and two mechanical fitter apprentices.
Stanwell is hosting an information session for anyone interested in applying on Tuesday 22 June 2021 at Saint Mary’s Catholic College Hall in Kingaroy from 5.30 pm to 7 pm, with people of all ages, and backgrounds encouraged to attend to learn more about kick-starting their careers in the energy industry.
Tarong power stations Site Manager, Wayne Martyn, said the program was a fantastic opportunity for those passionate about powering up their career in the electricity generation industry to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
“The program provides a structured opportunity for participants to learn from highly experienced mentors, trades peoples and specialist energy workers, allowing them to gain a stronger understanding of the career paths that are available to them in the industry,” Mr Martyn said.
“Our apprentices and trainees gain hands-on experience and real-world skills which will set them up for a long and meaningful career in the energy industry.
“The information session provides the perfect chance for potential applicants to gain useful information on the available roles, genuine insight into what it is like to complete the program at Tarong power stations, and guidance on how to prepare their application.”
Parents, students, teachers, and other local applicants are invited to attend the session, and applications from indigenous, female and mature-aged applicants are encouraged across all disciplines offered.
Tarong power stations have been powering Queensland for more than 35 years, with 1843 MW capacity (the powered equivalent of 18.43 million light bulbs!).
