Stanwell’s new renewable energy asset maintenance company powers up workforce transition

7 November 2023

Stanwell Asset Maintenance Company (SAMCo) was officially announced by the Assistant Minister for Energy, the Honourable Lance McCallum on 1 November 2023.

Through SAMCo, Stanwell will provide asset maintenance services to renewable energy projects in Queensland – Stanwell’s own renewable energy projects as well as projects owned by other proponents throughout the State – generating significant opportunities for Stanwell’s people.

SAMCo is a critical element in Stanwell’s blueprint to building our renewable energy service capabilities and delivering on the State Government’s Jobs Security Guarantee.

Importantly, it contributes to Stanwell’s corporate strategic goal to provide future pathways for our people.

SAMCo will leverage Stanwell’s highly skilled workforce and Stanwell’s experience as the most reliable and one of the safest operators in the National Electricity Market to optimise the performance of the renewable energy assets of Stanwell and our partners.

Stanwell’s Development Pathways Program, established earlier in 2023, provides our existing asset workers with the skills they need to transition into renewable energy asset maintenance and operation roles.

Over the past ten months, five mechanics and two electricians have already gained experience working on several wind and solar projects nationwide through the Development Pathways Program.
