Stanwell Business Trainee, Essense Clements, has been crowned the 2022 Best Apprentice or Trainee at the 2022 Rockhampton & Capricorn Coast Best in Business Awards.

Essense is nearing completion of her two-year Cert IV in Business Administration Traineeship here at Stanwell and was nominated by her mentors Toni Hooper and Amy Smith.

The awards ceremony, which was held at Korte’s Resort in Rockhampton on Saturday 26 November, is the region’s premier awards celebrating the achievements and capability of local businesses and their people.

“Winning this award recognises all of the hard work I have put into my traineeship and demonstrates the support I have received from the people around me at Stanwell,” Essense said.

“Even being nominated meant the absolute world to me as it was evident my mentors thought highly of me and appreciate the work that I do.”

Essense has been at Stanwell since February 2021 and prior to her traineeship she worked as an administration officer for a printing company.

“Throughout her tenure Essense has provided exceptional support and service to operational teams at Stanwell Power Station and has built solid relationships with key stakeholders who now rely on her for proficient and skilled administrative support,” Stanwell Power Station Health Safety and Environment Manager, Amy Smith, said.

“Essense works efficiently and proactively to deliver value and her ability to adapt to different teams, supervisors and tasks has made her an asset to Stanwell.”

Essense hopes to continue her career with Stanwell and has a particular interest in the training and development space.

“I believe the role training and development plays at Stanwell is imperative and I would love to be apart of something so significant,” she said.

We wish Essense all the best for her future career endeavours.
