Students trade text books for hard hats

8 November 2019

Hard hats, safety glasses and hi-vis vests became part of the uniform for students from St Mary’s Catholic College last week.

The year eight students visited Meandu Mine as part of their environmental sustainability studies.

Students toured the mine, and met with a range of people across the site including tyre fitters, senior mine geologist, maintenance manager, senior site executive, community relations advisor and environment superintendent.

Our team were keen to share their knowledge and experience with the students, showing them first-hand our environmental practices and how sustainability is embedded across all facets of our operations at Meandu. They even got to climb aboard one of the mine’s giant haul trucks!
